As part of the “Cyber Balkans” project, supported by the European Union, AKSK welcomed representatives of CIRT teams from the Western Balkans for a study visit and intensive training at the Cyber Lab and Cyber Range.
This two-day event aimed to strengthen technical capabilities for responding to cyber incidents, through practical simulations and exchange of experiences, promoting a common regional approach to digital security challenges.
Igli Tafa, Director of AKSK, emphasized that cybersecurity should be “built in from the design phase” and not added later to digital systems. He shared the vision for building a sustainable environment in the Western Balkans, where expertise and capacities are developed in an integrated manner, from basic education to critical institutions.
Davide Casale, representative of the EU Delegation to Albania, praised the close cooperation with AKSK and the e-Governance Academy, describing it as a trilateral model of success for building regional cyber resilience. “Cybersecurity is now a priority for the EU, not only within its borders, but also in countries aspiring to membership.”
Milan Sekuloski, head of the “Cyber Balkans” project, underlined the importance of expert networks and sharing good practices in building long-term capacities. “AKSK not only shares its experiences, but also transforms them into training opportunities for the entire region,” he said.
The “Cyber Balkans” project is implemented by the e-Governance Academy (Estonia), in partnership with CILC (Netherlands), NÚKIB (Czech Republic), as well as with the support of experts from the national CERTs of Estonia, Latvia and Slovenia.
