NCSA creates Cyber Security Laboratory: Simulation Platform for Training and Preparedness against Digital Threats

The Cyber Security Laboratory, created by the National for Cyber Security Authority, is an advanced training platform dedicated to the National SOC, Sectoral SOCs and institutions facing cybersecurity challenges, both in Albania and internationally.

This laboratory offers an innovative simulation environment for handling and analyzing cyber attacks against critical infrastructures, with a special focus on the energy sector and IoT technologies of smart cities. Using realistic scenarios, participants engage in a cyber “war” between:

– Red Team (Attack Team): Aims to intervene and take control of systems.

– Blue Team (Defense Team): Responsible for detecting, stopping attacks and restoring operations to normal.

The laboratory includes several important components that contribute to the professional training of participants:

1. Incident Response: Practical training to identify, isolate and neutralize threats in real time.

2. Forensic Analysis: Participants analyze traces of attacks after each simulation, learning techniques for their detection and prevention.

3. Cyber Escape Room: A fun and educational experience that challenges participants to solve security problems within a given time to “escape” a cyber scenario.

With this comprehensive approach, the laboratory aims to prepare cybersecurity specialists for challenges that cross national borders, increasing skills and awareness on the protection of critical infrastructures.

This is an important step towards strengthening cyber resilience in Albania and preparing teams to face global challenges in an increasingly digital world.
